FCA Sports Camp 2019:  "Let's Go"

Spending the week with these athletes, volunteers from the PNW and FCA staff from all over the region made our hearts glad.  We worked a lot, played a lot, prayed a lot and slept… not a lot.

This year NW Washington FCA took eleven campers, three huddle leaders (college age), two high school head coaches, one assistant coach and two families to camp.

A big thanks to Brian Porteous, a teacher at Shuksan middle school and head girls wrestling coach at the combined wrestling team of Squalicum, Bellingham and Sehome high schools who took time away to help transport NW Washington athletes over the Sunday prior to camp.

Another big thank you to those who contributed funds to cover the cost of some of our athletes. Through the financial generosity and investment of many in Whatcom and Skagit counties we were able to take the athletes above to camp June 24-28th.  All of us were challenged and encouraged to hear and obey Jesus' call for His followers to make a difference in the world… “Let's go” is how we summarized Jesus' command to love one another and to be on mission to share the Good News of what Jesus has done.

At least one of the girls in this picture, who clearly identified herself as “not a Christian” at the beginning of camp, heard the Good News of what God had done in Jesus Christ and made a choice to believe it.  Following the Tuesday night meeting she went out of her way to let us know that she had made a decision to become a Christian and follow Christ.
